The properties of wool
The quality of wool depends on a combination of the fiber's natural characteristics. Parameters such as fineness, length, crimp, and thermoregulatory capacity determine the value of the raw material and directly influence the performance of the yarn and fabric. It is precisely the balance between these properties that defines the quality level of wool and makes it a naturally sophisticated fiber.
Two Interpretations of Fiber
After shearing, the fiber can be processed using two main systems: carded and combed. In the carded system, the fibers are mixed and oriented more irregularly, retaining some of their natural bulkiness: the result is a softer, fuller, and warmer yarn with a rich and embracing hand. In the combed system, however, the fibers are selected and aligned by length, eliminating the shorter ones: this results in a more compact, uniform, and smooth yarn, capable of expressing greater definition, fineness, and lightness. These are two different processes that interpret the same raw material, enhancing its characteristics and performance in a distinctive way.
